Ed Lynskey does it again in book three of the Trumbo sisters series. The sisters are senior citizens that sometimes take a break from reading mystery novels and playing scrabble to solve murders in their small town of Quiet Anchorage, Virginia. This time, their friend Phyllis Garner is concerned about the suspected murder of her friend, Ladybug.Phyllis is the aunt of their often fellow sleuth, a twenty-something young lady named Sammie Jo. The trio, with help from the three setters (the elderly men that spend their days sitting on a bench outside of the local florist shop).
Of course, the sleuths are one or two steps ahead of Sheriff Fox. Fox is his usual lazy self and dreams of headlines, but he isn't even close to solving this murder.
Petey Samson, the sisters sweet dog is an important part of this new mystery. Unknown to the sisters, the dog has sleuthing capabilities of his own.
I hope Ed Lynskey continues this series with a fourth book, as a Trumbo sisters cozy is a wonderful break from the hardcore mysteries I usually read. The Trumbo series of books are the perfect cozies, as there are no sex scenes, no four-letter words, nor gory murder scenes.

EXCELLENT AND MYSTERIOUS STORY. PHYLLIS IS DETERMINE TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPEN TO HER FRIEND. I JUST HOPE SHE CAN ACCEPT IT, ONCE SHE FIND OUT. SOMETIMES YOU MIGHT BE READY TO HEAR THE TRUTH. MAKES YOU THINK ABOUT LIFE AND STUFF. WOW!!!!
THis one is my fave of the series. I LOVEd this book. I like the whole series so far but this one is my fave. It had such a great mystery and some funny things and some quirks I like. This one kept me up a couple nights later cuz I had to read one more chapter then 2 more and on til I couldn't stay awake any longer lol I hightly recommend this book.
"The Ladybug Song" by Ed Lynskey.
The Trumbo sisters, Alma and Isabel, thought they had closed down their detective agency...that is until the body of their friend, Ladybug, was found in shallow waters. Everyone in the town of Quiet Anchorage is shocked at this recent discovery, but the Trumbo sisters and friends of ladybug are bit more than shocked. They all agree that this is murder.
Soon the close knit group of the Trumbo sisters, Phyllis (the town bag lady), and Sammi Jo are on a hunt...a hunt for clues. Phyllis was the hardest hit by these shocking developments since Ladybug was her best friend. The gang of sleuths soon finds that Ladybug had divorced from her most recent husband and that shortly thereafter he had committed suicide by jumping off the golden Gate Bridge.
I totally enjoyed this story and find it to be the best yet of the Trumbo Sisters series. The childhood of Alma & Isabel is explored giving the characters more depth.
A true cozy and highly recommended to all true cozy lovers.

i enjoyed all 3 trumbo mysteries by ed lynskey. i enjoy the senior sleuths and would like this author to write more mysteries on isabel and alma.
This is a lovely, cozy, comfortable read. The sisters prove once again that they can outwit the sheriff and get to the truth. So nice to see age and experience celebrated. A must-read for fans of cozies. Very well written book.
When Ladybug Miles ends up dead, and her best friend Louise (Sammi Jo's Aunt) is arrested for the murder, Alma and Isabel must once again prove Sheriff Fox has arrested the wrong person.
These two elderly ladies have a way of getting to the bottom of trouble. With the help of their
friends, the Sheriff had better get his act together!!
These mysteries are everything a cozy mystery should be.
